Exploring Foursquare

What was the first thing I did when asked to write a post on Foursquare? Download the app and join. When Foursquare was huge around its launch in 2009, I had a Blackberry Pearl which made everything, other than emails and BBM’s, a hassle. Since 2010, when colleagues were contending for mayorship at the office and Yahoo!, Facebook and Microsoft were vying to acquire it, I haven’t really heard much about it.  Enter: ad sales.

The Socialympics

The Olympics will officially kick off in a matter of days (hooray!). Naturally, the Olympics is all about the athletes, but this year there will be some be some strong competition from social platforms. 

Social has come a long way since 2008. In just four years Facebook has gone from 100 million users to 900 million and Twitter has sprinted from 6 million to 140 million users. They are the heavy hitters establishing their positions in the Socialympics.

“Checking In” With Foursquare

The New York office recently ‘checked in’ with Foursquare to hear about some of the new product enhancements they have planned for brands and merchants interested in advertising on the platform.

Most of these features are added benefits to the Explore tab, and will provide users with new ways to interact with promoted content.
